The Net Zero 50 List celebrates organisations, products, services and initiatives leveraging technology, education and sustainability to help drive forward the net zero transformation.

There are 5 categories, which will showcase the cross-sector initiatives, individuals and organisations doing great work in UK net zero innovation.

Net Zero Hero

This is an individual whose actions in the past year have made them stand out as a leader in delivering the Net Zero agenda They are innovators and action-takers, doing outstanding work in the field of decarbonisation to tackle climate change inspiring positive change in business and society.

They may be initiating and enhancing in-house sustainability, or working for an organisation which specialises in helping others deliver their net-zero.

In-house Net Zero

This is for organisations of all sectors and sizes who have set out or delivered an ambitious decarbonisation strategy within their own operations, making the commitment to becoming net zero internally. For example, by reducing emissions from their buildings, implementing stock keeping units (SKU) and packaging rationalisation or switching to cleaner water and energy providers, their in-house innovations and actions are enshrining good practice and positive change within the organisation's structure and culture.

SME Net Zero

While large enterprise has been leading the way in business, the Net Zero 50 list wants to find innovative startups and specialist businesses across the UK at the smaller end who are thinking big. This category is for an SME business, that provides services that bring innovation and industry expertise to develop solutions, services and impact that help other organisations to create sustainable impact, enabled by technology and human ingenuity.

Public Sector Net Zero

Public services are playing an essential role in helping implement and coordinate paths for decarbonisation through public services. Members on the list are public sector organisations or public sector-led initiatives, which have made remarkable efforts in the past year, for example, to measure, monitor and report on energy and carbon reduction. They are helping their towns, cities and communities. fostering public-private collaboration, adaptation and innovation to bridge the gap across the energy, built environment and transport sectors.

Non-Profit Net Zero

Members of the list are non-profit organisations helping us achieve net zero, whether through breakthrough scientific research, developing carbon removal solutions, working to enshrine policy or protecting vital carbon sinks. Their education, advocacy and action are helping to reduce, prevent or recapture CO2 from our atmosphere, stopping climate change and restoring our environment. They have proved exceptional in their mission, achievements and transparency ratings.
